Cory Joseph traded to Indiana Pacers along with cash considerations from Golden State Warriors
The Indiana Pacers made a trade with the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. Guard Cory Joseph, who previously played for Indiana for two seasons, is heading to the Pacers.
Indiana will send Golden State a 2024 second-round draft pick. A league source told AllPacers that it will be the worst of the Pacers draft picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, which is currently slated to be the 55th overall selection.
On top of Joseph, Indiana will get a conditional 2025 second-round draft pick (originally Charlotte's, top-55 protected) and $5.8 million in cash considerations, a league source said. That money is far more than Joseph's salary for the remainder of the campaign.
Because of that financial difference, the Pacers essentially sold their worst second-round pick in the 2024 draft for more than $4 million in cash. It is a smaller trade, but that money could be significant for the blue and gold, who had more upcoming second rounders than roster spots before the deal.
Joseph, per sources, will be waived by the Pacers and become a free agent. The blue and gold will be on the hook for his $2 million cap hit for the rest of the campaign.
This trade was mostly about money and balancing draft picks for Indiana. Their roster stands at 14.
