Report: Zion Williamson, Family Sued By Technology Company

The New Orleans Pelicans star and his family members face a lawsuit.

Ankr PBC, a technology company out of California, has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New Orleans against Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson, his mother, and stepfather, according to Brett Martel of the Associate Press. The suit alleges that Williamson and his family failed to repay an amount of $1.8M of a $2M loan given as part of "establishing a marketing relationship" with the NBA player.

Lee Anderson, Zion's stepfather, is the central figure in the lawsuit's claims. His mother, "Sharonda Sampson, is named as a defendant, partly because Ankr wired money into her account after Anderson allegedly told the company his family urgently needed a "bridge loan" to cover investment obligations."

According to the lawsuit, Lee Anderson, acted as Zion Williamson's business manager and requested $150,000 upfront to explore a possible business partnership with his stepson.

"Ankr reasonably believed that Anderson possessed the authority to negotiate business arrangements for Williamson," the lawsuit stated.

Martel outlines additional details of the filed lawsuit here.
