LaMelo Ball’s Injury Status for Pistons vs. Hornets Revealed

Will the Detroit Pistons face LaMelo Ball on Monday night?

On Monday, the Detroit Pistons are set to face a team that’s on a similar timeline as them in the Charlotte Hornets. While the Hornets collected six more wins than the Pistons as this point in the year, Charlotte’s at a major disadvantage on Monday, due to the continued absence of their star guard, LaMelo Ball.

According to the Hornets’ official injury report, Ball is out with a right ankle injury. It’s a lingering issue that’s taken Ball off the floor for well over a month now.

The last time Ball suited up for the Hornets was back on January 26. While the Hornets were in the midst of a ten-game losing streak, Ball’s night was cut short against the Houston Rockets in a 34-point loss.

From that point on, he remains on Charlotte’s injury report. For 21 games in a row, Ball has been in recovery. Unfortunately for the star ball-handler, it’s not his first major injury this year.

Before Ball suffered his latest setback, he appeared in just seven of the Hornets’ last eight games at that point. Before that, he missed 20 consecutive games after playing in the first 15 games of the 2023-2024 NBA season.

When healthy, Ball has proven to be one of the NBA’s most exciting young guards. In the 22 games he appeared in this year, Ball averaged 24 points, eight assists, and five rebounds.

Last year, he put together a career-best effort by producing 23 points, eight assists, and six rebounds per game. Unfortunately, his third season in the NBA was cut short to just 36 games due to injuries.

This year, Ball appeared in two games against the Pistons. His latest showing was back in January when he scored 17 points and seven assists in 32 minutes of action. Detroit found success in both outings, putting together a two-game win streak over Charlotte.

Monday’s outing concludes the regular season series against Charlotte. With Ball out, the Pistons won’t face the guard again until next season.
