The Toronto Raptors appear to be taking a closer look at one of this year’s most perplexing NBA Draft prospects.

Isaiah Miranda has reportedly been asked to work out for Toronto, according to Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times. The 7-foot-1 center from N.C. State joined the team mid-semester and did not play in a single game for the Wolfpack this past year.

A former four-star prospect from Santa Clarita, California, Miranda became eligible to play in December but was deemed not ready for college basketball, per Jacey Zembal of Wolfpack Central.

“As weeks went by, and even the eventual season-ending injury to Dusan Mahorcic, Miranda was headed for a redshirt year. The God-given ability was evident, but the adjustment to college basketball proved too difficult,” Zembal wrote.

Miranda opted to test the NBA waters this summer without hiring an agent in order to maintain his NCAA eligibility. It was initially believed he would return to N.C. State for next season, though he has since reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal and will look for a new collegiate program if he does not turn pro, per Travis Branham of 247 Sports.

Miranda is not likely to be considered a first-round pick and Toronto is without a second-round pick this year. It’s possible the Raptors are looking at Miranda as a potential undrafted free-agent signing should he remain in the draft.
