The Toronto Raptors may have an opening to pry away one of Chicago’s top unsigned restricted free agents this summer.

The 23-year-old Ayo Dosunmu is reportedly unlikely to be back with the Chicago Bulls for next season despite receiving a qualifying offer from the team, per 670 The Score. It’s unclear if Toronto remains interested in the 6-foot-5 guard but the organization had been connected to Dosunmu earlier in free agency.

Dosunmu is entering his third season in the NBA, having averaged 8.6 points and 2.6 assists per game last season. He shot 37.6% from three-point range but saw that number tumble to 31.2% last season on just 2.4 attempts per game.

Even if Toronto is interested in the Chicago native, the Raptors can only offer him a minimum contract, having used their mid-level exception and bi-annual exception on Dennis Schröder and Jalen McDaniels, respectively. The Bulls could then match Toronto’s offer and keep Dosunmu on a minimum deal should the organization decide to keep the former second-round pick.

As of Wednesday, Toronto’s roster sits at 14 with one open roster spot remaining. Jeff Dowtin Jr., who also remains an unsigned restricted free agent, is expected to earn the final roster spot. While Dowtin did impress Toronto last season, the Raptors could opt to go with the younger Dosunmu as a quality backup guard should the opportunity arise.

The Raptors could also trade for Dosunmu as the Bulls are expected to have a crowded backcourt with Zach Lavine, Alex Caruso, Coby White, and now Jevon Carter all under contract.
