Kings Expected to Target Stars Including Pascal Siakam & OG Anunoby, per Report

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly expected to target Toronto Raptors stars Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby should they become available this season

The Sacramento Kings appear to be lurking in NBA trade talks.

Yes, it’s still early, and, save for the Chicago Bulls who are reportedly willing to move Zach LaVine this season, nobody has thrown in the towel quite yet. But should that change, the Kings are a team to keep an eye on, especially for Toronto Raptors stars Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, according to Shams Charania.

“They’re going to be involved in every star player,” Charania said on FanDuel TV. “Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, maybe Zach LaVine, whatever stars come available, because Monte McNair, that organization, they’ve done a good job of keeping their assets. They have tradable contracts. So they’re going to be a player for stars coming up for sure.”

The Kings were reportedly a team sniffing around Anunoby both this past summer and last year at the trade deadline. They’ve long been looking for another wing player to add to their rotation alongside De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

In terms of trade equity, Sacramento owes the Atlanta Hawks their lottery-protected first-round pick this year. That means the Kings can’t trade a first-round pick outright until 2028 at the earliest and they can only move as many as two first-round picks and two first-round pick swaps. They do own their second-round pick this year and as many as five second-round picks moving forward.

As for players, Harrison Barnes has an easily movable contract, though it does have three years remaining on it, and his age, 31, would likely make him not a target for Toronto. The 23-year-old Keegan Murray would be among the Kings’ most coveted assets, though potentially too valuable to be dealt. Davion Mitchell, Chris Duarte, and Malik Monk are all relatively young and intriguing players.

Don’t expect any trades to happen before Dec. 15 when players who signed new contracts this past offseason can be dealt. Even then, most trades won’t come until much closer to the Feb. 8 trade deadline in the new year.
