Report: Raptors Re-Sign Ron Harper Jr. to Two-Way Deal

The Toronto Raptors have opted to keep Ron Harper Jr. on a two-way contract for next season

Ron Harper Jr. will be back with the Toronto Raptors next season.

The undrafted sophomore forward has reportedly been re-signed to a two-way deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He’ll take the second of three two-way spots for the team this season, joining Markquis Nowell who signed with the team following this year’s NBA Draft.

Harper didn’t show much at the NBA level last season, appearing in just nine games for Toronto. He did, however, average 16.7 points in 30 games with the Raptors 905 in the G League last year while shooting 50.1% from the floor and 36.6% from three-point range. Those numbers came with 5.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and a steal per game.

The 23-year-old did not have a particularly strong showing at Summer League earlier this month, averaging just 12 points across four games while shooting 34.9% from the field and 16.7% from behind the arc with more turnovers than assists.

Toronto had offered Harper a two-way qualifying offer ahead of free agency, making him a restricted free agent.

As a two-way player, Harper will spend most of his time in the G League next season and will be ineligible for NBA post-season games unless his deal is converted to a standard deal.

The Raptors now have one two-way spot remaining and one NBA roster spot open ahead of training camp.
