Rico Hines is heading south.

The former Toronto Raptors assistant coach will be joining the Philadelphia 76ers next season, he announced on Instagram. He will join former Raptors coach Nick Nurse on the bench following their one season together in Toronto.

Hines had been brought into Toronto to help with player development. He worked with the Raptors all summer in the Rico Hines Runs, training with players from around the league. He had been known for his work training Pascal Siakam and DeMar DeRozan in previous summers.

With Nurse's departure from Toronto, the Raptors appear poised to remake their coaching staff with just one assistant Jim Sann remaining with the team. Darko Rajaković said he and the team have begun the process of building out Toronto's assistant coach for next season but no hires have officially been made yet.

Hines had previously worked with the Sacramento Kings in player development.

It's unclear if Nurse will be recruiting any of his other former assistant coaches. Former Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin, who was named head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, hired Nate Mitchell to join his bench for next year.

Toronto had 10 assistant coaches last season but that number is expected to shrink considerably under Rajaković.
