The Toronto Raptors appear to be keeping an eye on Kentucky’s NBA Draft prospect Cason Wallace.

The 19-year-old point guard has reportedly worked out for the organization, per The Athletic’s Josh Robbins, and is widely expected to be drafted in the mid-to-late lottery later this month.

Wallace is considered among the best two-way guards in the draft. He’s a ferocious defender, listed at 6-foot-4, 193 pounds, with active hands and quick feet. He was fourth in the SEC in steals as a freshman, averaging two per game, and should have no problem adjusting to the NBA game on the defensive end.

Offensively, though, Wallace has a few outstanding questions. He’s skilled as a point guard, can work the pick-and-roll, and orchestrate the offense at a high level. He does lack burst as an offensive creator and isn’t explosive as a half-court scorer. His three-point shot was also inconsistent throughout the year. He shot 45.6% from behind the arc through his first 14 games on nearly five attempts per game. Those numbers, however, plummeted to just 22% on 3.3 attempts per game over his final 18 outings.

Considering Toronto’s need for ball handlers and guard depth and the organization’s affinity for two-way players, Wallace makes sense for the Raptors at No. 13. The Athletic, for example, has Wallace pegged to Toronto in one of their mock drafts. Both CBS and Bleacher Report have Wallace tabbed for No. 15 and the Atlanta Hawks.
