Raptors Share Update on RJ Barrett Ahead of 76ers Game

The Toronto Raptors have ruled out RJ Barrett for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers

RJ Barrett is going to need a little more time.

The Toronto Raptors have downgraded Barrett from questionable to out ahead of Sunday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced. Barrett is going to need a little more time to get his conditioning back after a lengthy absence.

Barrett has missed eight games following the death of his younger brother Nathan but isn't expected to be away from the team for much longer. He should be ready to go Tuesday when the Los Angeles Lakers come to town or on Wednesday night when the Raptors head to Minneapolis.

When he does return, Toronto will need Barrett to be back to his old self. He'd been playing some of the best basketball of his career with the Raptors, averaging 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and four assists per game while shooting 55.3% from the field and 41.7% from behind the arc through his first 27 games with the team.

Toronto remains without Ochai Agbaji, Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, Immanuel Quickley, Chris Boucher, DJ Carton, and Jontay Porter as well.

The 76ers are dealing with injuries of their own and remain without Joel Embiid. He's joined on the injury report by fellow All-Star Tyrese Maxey who is questionable with left hip tightness.

Philadelphia has also ruled out Robert Covington and De'Anthony Melton. Former Raptors guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. is away from the team on a G League assignment.

The 76ers are still considered -9.5 point favorites with an implied win probability of 83.3%. The total for the game is 216.5.
