Report: Raptors Add Center on 10-Day Contract

The Toronto Raptors are reportedly signing Malik Williams on a 10-day contract to bolster their frontcourt for the final seven games

The Toronto Raptors are planning to add some size to their rotation for the stretch run.

With Jakob Poeltl sidelined and Jontay Porter under NBA investigation, Toronto has reportedly opted to bring in Malik Williams on a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania.

The 6-foot-11 Williams has spent the season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami's G League affiliate, where he's averaging 10.1 points, eight rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game this season. He's not much of a three-point shooter, but Williams has averaged nearly three attempts per game, shooting just 31.1% from behind the arc in the G League this year.

Williams, 25, spent five years at Louisville before going undrafted in 2022. He briefly played overseas in Poland before returning to the G League this past year.

The Indiana native has yet to appear in an NBA game but should see some playing time off the bench for Toronto as the Raptors continue to deal with injuries in the frontcourt.

Kobi Simmons' 10-day contract expired Tuesday night, creating the roster spot for Toronto to ink Williams to a 10-day contract.

The deal will take Williams through Toronto's penultimate game of the season in Miami. The Raptors will have two days to make one more signing if the organization sees fit before the season ends on April 14.

Toronto had previously signed Justise Winslow, Mouhamadou Gueye, DJ Carton, Jahmi'us Ramsey, and Simmons to 10-day contracts. Gueye and Carton were both promoted to two-way deals.

The Raptors have seven games remaining this season.
