Rockets' Dillon Brooks Applauded By Former Grizzlies Teammate Jaren Jackson Jr.

Memphis Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr. and Los Angeles Clippers' Paul George applauded Houston Rockets' Dillon Brooks' defensive mentality.

It's no secret that the Houston Rockets' offseason free agent signee Dillon Brooks is known for his defense than his offense.

The former Memphis Grizzly was a member of the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team last season because of his ability to lock down some of the best players in the league. And yes, that includes his controversial tangles with Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James.

Grizzlies' power forward and 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. spoke on "Podcast P with Paul George" about his former teammate's defensive mentality.

"[Brooks] is going to guard the best players," Jackson said. "You think he’s going to guard them like everybody else in the league is going to guard them… No! [Brooks] Lean's on them, pushes them, bumps them and gets in his head before the game. After the game [Brooks] makes sure he’s thrown off at any cost because we need to win this game.”

Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George has been one of the best players in the league since his breakout season in 2013 as a member of the Indiana Pacers. Brooks has guarded George several times over the years because of his elite status. The eight-time NBA All-Star truly enjoys Brooks' defensive game when they go head-to-head.

"The part that I respect and appreciate about Dillon's game is him never backing down," George said. "That should be applauded and that's the reason I look forward to competing against him."

The NBA schedule is yet to come out, but when it does, it's likely that Brooks and George will mutually have each other's matchups circled.
