Should Rockets Trade for Knicks SG Quentin Grimes to Improve Shooting?

The Houston Rockets could stand to improve their three-point shooting, and former first-round pick Quentin Grimes could be a good solution.

The New York Knicks have been looking to make trades for a while now, and the Houston Rockets could take advantage of that.

After trading Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors, the Knicks have been left without significant playmaking in their bench, so they could be looking to make another deal.

A player that the Rockets could be interested in on New York's roster is Quentin Grimes, as he would help with the team's subpar three-point shooting. Fred Katz of The Athletic thinks that the Knicks could be willing to part ways with the young guard because of his relationship with Tom Thibodeau.

"The 23-year-old has fallen out of favor with head coach Tom Thibodeau of late, losing the starting shooting guard job to Donte DiVincenzo on Dec. 8 and seeing his playing time decrease from 30 minutes a game in 2022-23 to 17 since moving to the second unit," Katz wrote.

The Rockets are in the bottom half of the league in three-point percentage, as they have shot under 36 percent from beyond the arc so far this season. If the team was to trade for Grimes, it would add to their already impressive young core, and add a solid shooter to the roster.

The Rockets will keep looking to improve their shooting in their next game against Grimes and the New York Knicks. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.
