Rockets To Be Without Jalen Green And Kevin Porter Jr. Friday vs. Warriors

Due to their respective injuries, the Houston Rockets will return from the All-Star break Friday without Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.

HOUSTON — The Houston Rockets will make their return from the All-Star break Friday night in a road contest against the Golden State Warriors inside the Chase Center.

The Rockets went into the break without the services of Kevin Porter Jr. And upon their return, Houston will be without Jalen Green.

Coach Stephen Silas announced both players missed Wednesday's practice inside the Toyota Center. But Green and Porter were able to get shots up before the team's five-on-five scrimmage.

"We are going to take it day by day," Silas said. "There is a small chance we can get at least one of them back for Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers."

Green sustained a left groin strain injury on Feb. 15 during the Rockets' 133-96 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He left the game late in the second quarter.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets were "relieved" by Green's MRI results. But Silas said his second-year two-guard is still dealing with tightness one week later.

Following a "freakish accident" against the Sacramento Kings on Jan. 11, Porter will miss his 17th consecutive game. Silas said Porter is still dealing with pain in his left toe despite showing signs of improvements.

The absence of Green and Porter would create an opportunity for reserve players to help the Rockets end their appalling season on a positive note.

"It's going to be a great opportunity," Silas said. "We need the ball handling. We need the scoring. Players want more minutes and a chance. And my response has always been, 'stay ready. Your chance is coming.' And now here it is."
