Rockets Sign Michael Frazier to Two-Way Deal, Waive Shamorie Ponds, Ray Spalding

The Rockets continued to finalize their 15-man roster over the weekend, waiving three players while signing one to a two-way contract.

Guard Michael Frazier finished training camp on the right side of the roster ledger. Houston signed Frazier to a two-way contract on Oct. 20, allowing Frazier on their NBA roster for up to 45 days until he joins the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the G League. Frazier is the second Rockets' guard on a two-way contract this season alongside 5'9" rookie Chris Clemons.

With both two-way spots now filled, Houston appears to have its opening night roster set before hosting the Bucks on Thursday.

Houston waived a trio of players on Saturday upon trimming its roster. Forward Matur Maker, forward Ray Spalding and guard Shamorie Ponds were cut, and each are now free to be claimed on waivers by NBA teams.

The Rockets can add any of the three players to the RGV roster if they are not claimed by another NBA team.

Ponds logged limited minutes for Houston in the preseason. Spalding missed the preseason with a calf injury, while Makur was released two days after he was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract.
