Hawks PG Dejounte Murray Has 'No Ill Feelings' Against Spurs

Atlanta Hawks point guard Dejounte Murray spoke glowingly of his former San Antonio Spurs when prompted by reporters, leaving no animus between the two parties.

Former San Antonio Spurs and current Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray is in the midst of a heated battle in the NBA Eastern Conference, spearheading the franchise alongside Trae Young in a final effort to secure postseason seeding.

Recently, Murray was asked about his time with San Antonio -- the franchise that drafted him No. 29 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft -- saying the following shared on Twitter:

"This is a place that gave me an opportunity that nobody did at that time," Murray said. At the end of the day, I wish them the best, I want the best for them ... There's no ill feelings towards anybody."

The Spurs traded Murray this past offseason to the Hawks for several reasons -- chiefly to enter a full rebuild and release themselves from any hefty contracts, existent or impending. San Antonio also received three first-round draft picks from Atlanta in return. Immediately following the trade, Murray posted this to his personal Twitter account:

Thus, a positive divorce was already existent, which he doubled-down on recently. At the expense of losing a premiere point guard the likes of Murray, San Antonio is in hot pursuit of winning the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery and securing the rights to French phenom Victor Wembanyama.
