Report: Chicago Bulls' Zach LaVine 'Has An Eye' on Trade to San Antonio Spurs

Could the San Antonio Spurs be in the trade discussion for Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine?

The San Antonio Spurs are in the middle of a seven-game losing streak after Friday's 129-120 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

But despite a 3-9 record, the Spurs are still reportedly drawing some notable interest in the trade market.

Per Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, the Spurs are a team to watch in the trade sweepstakes for Chicago Bulls All-Star guard Zach LaVine, whose name has been floating around in trade rumors since the offseason.

Fischer writes that the lure of rookie Victor Wembanyama is intriguing to LaVine along with being able to play under coach Gregg Popovich again after the pair won gold together at the 2020 Olympics.

"LaVine also has an eye on joining the San Antonio Spurs, sources said, in order to pair with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama and reunite with head coach Gregg Popovich, who oversaw the 2020 Team USA outfit that LaVine helped win a gold medal in Tokyo," Fischer wrote.

This season, LaVine is averaging a team-best 21.7 points to go along with 4.9 rebounds and three assists per game.

His addition would obviously provide a lot from a talent perspective, but it might not make the most sense. Fischer points out that teams won't like the idea of potentially taking on his massive four-year, $180 million contract. Additionally, making him the newest member of this current roster sounds like fun until you realize who the Spurs would likely have to give up in return. Is it worth it?

Spurs fans probably shouldn't lose their breath over asking that very question. Despite LaVine's reported interest, it doesn't seem like a fit that makes sense, though his desire to be a Spur could certainly be real based on the Wemby and Popovich factor.

The Spurs and Bulls face off for the first time this season on Thursday, Dec. 21 in Chicago.
