If you asked San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich if anyone should go to Las Vegas and bet on the Spurs to win it all this season, he'd likely give you an answer similar to the one he gave last year ... no.

However, the Spurs have a lot more talent than they did a year ago ... some of whom are considered the best players in the league.

In its annual top 100 ranking, CBS Sports listed shooting guard Devin Vassell as the 82nd-best player in the NBA.

Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs

Since joining the Spurs in 2020, Vassell has proven himself to be a worthy scorer. He's improved every season since his rookie year, notching 18.5 points per game in only 38 appearances last season.

The shooting guard has dealt with injuries throughout his young career, which certainly brings about some concerns regarding his reliability, but with his mind set on staying healthy, his potential truly is sky-high if he can consistently see game action.

"Vassell had a trial run as San Antonio's second option last season, and averaged a respectable 18.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game on strong shooting splits," CBS Sports wrote. "However, his sample size was small, with a mere 38 games played because of injuries. ... Vassell's diverse shot profile makes him a capable scorer while his length and anticipation give him the tools to be a strong defender."

So, Vassell has the skills. His health remains in question, but assuming that checks out, he could become San Antonio's true second option behind Victor Wembanyama, and with continued development, the Spurs could join the list of teams with a "big-three" boasting him, Wembanyama and Keldon Johnson.
