San Antonio Spurs' Devin Vassell Officially Active vs. Los Angeles Clippers: ‘I’m Back’

San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell has missed the past three games due to injury.

San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell is officially active for Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers at Frost Bank Center, the team announced.

Vassell confirmed his availability when speaking to the media prior to the Spurs’ announcement.

"Just a little nagging injury,” Vassell said. “Nothing major, nothing bad at all, just wanted to be cautious, that's what the staff wanted to do. I'm back. Looking forward to not missing anymore games and changing this thing around.”

Vassell has missed the past three games due to a left adductor strain (groin), an injury that's bothered him since San Antonio's 132-121 win over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 2. This was the last time the Spurs won a game, as they're currently on a nine-game losing streak headed into Wednesday.

In total, Vassell has missed five games this season due to injury. This comes after he missed 44 games last year after undergoing mid-season knee surgery.

When he's been healthy this season, Vassell has arguably been San Antonio's best player outside of rookie Victor Wembanyama. The former No. 11 pick out of Florida State in 2020 is averaging 17.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season.

The Spurs are 0-2 against the Clippers this season. Both losses have come in blowout fashion, including in Monday’s 124-99 loss at home.

With Vassell back in the fold, the Spurs will look to end their losing streak and start building some positive momentum as the season treads on.

Wednesday’s tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
