Spurs Win vs. Nuggets 'Means a Lot', Says Doug McDermott

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Denver Nuggets 128-120 at home on Friday in dramatic fashion.

Referring to the San Antonio Spurs Friday night victory over the West-leading Denver Nuggets as "exciting" would be an understatement.

From a 15-point comeback, to a third-quarter scuffle between Zach Collins and Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. in which both players got ejected, to an 11-point fourth quarter from the Spurs newest acquisition Sandro Mamukelashvili this game had everything.

But for the Spurs, who currently sit tied for the best odds to land this year's No. 1 draft pick, this late-season win was a big moment.

"It [win] means a lot. It shows that we are growing. We're doing the right things every day. It's great to see us get rewarded with a great win against the top seed in the West," forward Doug McDermott said postgame. "I think it's great being at home in front of our fans. They stuck with us all year. They know it's a process this year."

McDermott, who finished second on the Spurs in scoring with 20, (trailing only Keldon Johnson's 23), was one of seven players to eclipse double-digit points on the night.

And despite a 37-point triple double from two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, San Antonio is proving why it's rebuilding in the right direction

The Spurs are back in action on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
