There is losing ... then there is getting destroyed.

Yesterday, the San Antonio Spurs experienced the latter as the Boston Celtics blew out the Spurs 137-93. Boston didn't miss a beat without their star player Jayson Tatum. Following the game, Gregg Popovich stated his team "gave in."

“We played well for about a quarter, but after that, I thought we just gave in,” Popovich said. “I thought we embarrassed ourselves by giving in the way we did. But the Celtics had a lot to do with that."

Although the Spurs' 19-56 record suggests they give in a lot, Popovich typically commends his team's effort. However, losing by 44 points (down as much as 47) understandably invokes disappointment for any professional team.

Boston exploded for 41 points in the fourth quarter, with the Spurs petering out with 16 in the same period. Stepping up to the plate in Tatum's absence, Brown scored 41 points and recorded 13 rebounds. San Antonio had nothing to match Boston's star power.

No one on the Spurs could stop a fast break, as the Celtics ran them out of the gym with 29 points in transition, again providing validity to Popovich's frustration with his team.

The Spurs will look to bounce back Wednesday at home when the Utah Jazz comes to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
