Spurs Rookie Jeremy Sochan Named to NBA Rising Stars Team

San Antonio Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan has earned a trip to All-Star Weekend after an impressive start to his NBA career.

San Antonio Spurs rookie Jeremy Sochan has been named to the 2022-23 NBA Rising Stars Team for All-Star Weekend, the league announced Tuesday.

Sochan will be a part of a roster mix that features first- and second-year players along with some of the top talent from the G League. Teams have not yet been finalized.

Sochan is joined by rookies like the Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic, Jalen Duren and Jaden Ivey of the Detroit Pistons, AJ Griffin of the Atlanta Hawks, Bennedict Mathurin of the Indiana Pacers, Keegan Murray of the Sacramento Kings and many more.

Notable selections from the G League include highly-touted 2023 draft prospect Scoot Henderson along with Kenneth Lofton Jr. and Scotty Pippen Jr.

Sochan has continued to take some major strides this season after being the No. 9 overall pick out of Baylor in June. He's currently averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 41 starts this season.

He's posted seven straight double-digit scoring efforts, which included a career-best 30-point outing in Saturday's 128-118 overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns. During this stretch, he's drilled 11 triples after making only 15 in all combined games prior.

The Spurs have relied on Sochan early and often in a rebuilding season and will now get to see him reap the rewards at All-Star weekend in Salt Lake City. Tip-off for the Rising Stars Challenge will be on Friday, Feb. 17.
