Spurs vs. Magic: 3 Best Bets

Before the San Antonio Spurs look for their first Rodeo Road Trip win against the Orlando Magic, take a look at our three best bets, powered by SI Sportsbook.

The San Antonio Spurs will stay in Florida tonight after losing to the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The Orlando Magic will host the second game of the Rodeo Road Trip, which the Spurs fell to by ten points earlier in the season.

Victor Wembanyama will be joined by Paolo Banchero in the NBA Skills Challenge, along with Anthony Edwards. For now, the two will be competitors as the Spurs aim to snap a five-game losing streak.

Tre Jones Cole Anthony Magic

Neither team has much of an injury report, but Charles Bassey remains out for the Spurs with a torn ACL. Jonathan Isaac, who has missed many games for the Magic since being drafted, is expected to play. He is one of the only players in the league who can reliably stop Wembanyama down low.

Our Picks

Safe pick: Tre Jones OVER 10.5 points (-125)

By his standards, Tre Jones has been on an offensive tear. The pass-first, defensive-minded guard has averaged 13 points over his last five games, and 13.1 points since becoming a starter. Sure, against the Magic earlier this year he only scored eight points, but he's been a reliable shooter after developing a reputation as the rare guard who can't hit a three.

Opponent Pick: Franz Wagner OVER 20.5 points (-133)

Since coming back from injury, Wagner has averaged 19.6 points. Against the Spurs' poor defense, he should be able to exceed that average, and his three-point percentage has improved from 28.8 percent to 37 percent since his injury, on more attempts. With fewer chances of him taking the ball to the hoop and meeting Wembanyama, he is more likely to make his shots.

Team pick: Spurs +10.5 (-110)

The Spurs lost by 12 points to the Heat last night, and 16 to the Cavaliers the game before that, but since the start of 2024, only five of their 14 losses have been by more than 10.5 points. The Magic play stifling defense, so don't expect the Spurs to win, but their lack of offensive attack will prevent Orlando from running away with this one.
