Victor Wembanyama Scores Season-Low as San Antonio Spurs Fall to Chicago Bulls

The San Antonio Spurs remain winless against the Eastern Conference this season after a loss to the Chicago Bulls.

The San Antonio Spurs remain winless against the Eastern Conference this season after Thursday night’s 114-95 to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

San Antonio (4-23) was unable to handle the production of Chicago’s starting lineup, as the Bulls (13-18) got a game-high 22 points from Coby White while former Spur DeMar DeRozan added 21 points in what will be the last meeting of the season between the two teams (barring a miraculous run to the Finals for both teams).

Spurs guard Devin Vassell led the team with 21 points while Zach Collins had 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama appeared somewhat limited after missing Tuesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks with an ankle injury. He played just 10 minutes in the first half and finished with a season-low seven points on 3 of 8 shooting. He added five rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks.

San Antonio jumped out to a six-point lead in the first quarter, but Chicago was steady and led 52-48 headed into halftime. Vassell hit a triple to start the third quarter to tie the game at 55-55. However, the Bulls retook the lead and never looked back.

Chicago only led by seven at 77-70 headed into the fourth, but this is when things turned into a blowout. The Spurs were outscored 37-25 in the final quarter of a game that was well within their reach, but White kept hitting tough shots for the Bulls down the stretch.

The Spurs will visit the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
