Buy or Sell Latest Suns Topics

What is our verdict on recent Phoenix Suns-related developments?

The Phoenix Suns are approaching a key juncture in their season - either they will become the contender everyone expected them to be or they will continue to falter and be the biggest disappointment in the league.

There are still many questions surrounding the Suns going into their six-game home stand, and we give our thoughts on some of the most pressing questions.

Is Frank Vogel's Job in Danger?

Various whispers over the last week have suggested that first-year Suns coach Frank Vogel's job is in imminent danger, and he needed to win soon or get the boot from team governor Mat Ishbia.

Suns insider "FLEX from Jersey" added fuel to the fire, bringing new information to the table: the locker room is divided between Vogel and lead assistant coach Kevin Young.

While there is an obvious disconnect at the moment, a drastic move such as a coaching change shouldn't be carried out until the All-Star break at the earliest.

That would be the timing that makes the most sense in the grand scheme of things, as it would give the franchise a few days to regroup and decide on an interim or new full-time head man.

At the end of the day, it would be shocking to see Vogel gone at any point before that unless a complete collapse ensues once 2024 comes along.

Verdict: Buy that Vogel's seat is warming up, sell that he's not the coach at the All-star break

Do the Suns Need a True Point Guard?

The past two-plus weeks have brought back the question that has plagued Phoenix since they acquired Bradley Beal in exchange for Chris Paul back in June - do they still need a true pass-first point guard?

The answer isn't exactly simple.

The imminent return of Bradley Beal will make it easier to alternate point-guard duties between him and Devin Booker, but it still may not hurt to look for an extra ball-handler, especially with Jordan Goodwin's recent struggles.

Names that have been linked to Phoenix recently or going back multiple years include John Wall, Goran Dragic, T.J. McConnell, Alex Caruso, and Delon Wright.

Wall and Dragic could be signed upfront. Wright could potentially be had for cheap. McConnell is worth taking a flier on, even if he'd end up being too pricey. Caruso likely would be unattainable.

At the end of the day, it might be worth taking a chance on a talented ball-handler that can primarily focus on a role as a distributor and team defender

Verdict: Buy that acquiring another point guard would be worth releasing Bol Bol for.

Is Kevin Durant Frustrated?

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a report on Christmas Day, one that Suns superstar Kevin Durant has become frustrated with the situation that Phoenix is currently navigating.

The way Woj framed the report sent social media into a frenzy with many speculating a trade request could be impending should the situation continue to worsen.

While Durant has gained the reputation as a team-hopper, it is quite the overreaction to believe that he will force his way out of the franchise he desperately wanted to join after only one full season.

Verdict: Buy that Durant is frustrated with injuries, but sell that he will ask out.
