Suns Send Chris Paul to Bulls in Theoretical Trade

If the Phoenix Suns are to trade Chris Paul, the Chicago Bulls would be the perfect trade partner.

There have been many conflicting reports surrounding Chris Paul and his future with the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are expected to guarantee a full salary for Paul for the 2023-24 season according to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes. However, Jack Simone of Bulls Wire believes that the Chicago Bulls should look into trading for Paul.

“A trade for Chris Paul would have to include Ball, (Alex) Caruso, and another smaller contract. However, it would give the Bulls an elite playmaker to run their offense,” Simone wrote. “Obviously, at 38 years old, Paul is a shell of his former self. But he’d still be an immediate upgrade to the Bulls’ point guard position.

“And considering the Phoenix Suns are looking to make significant changes this summer, they may be open to a deal. If Chicago gives up Ball, Caruso, and someone else, they could even get back some seconds in a potential trade for Paul.”

This past season, Paul averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.9 assists in what was his worst offensive statistical year of his career.

Getting a player like Caruso could be an upgrade for the Suns as he provides more of a defensive presence and at the current stages of both their careers, Caruso is just more explosive offensively while still showing the ability to facilitate and run the offense.

Paul is a very ball dominant point guard which is something that Phoenix doesn't really need right now. With Kevin Durant and Devin Booker handling the ball at most points, Paul is now put in a weird position.

If Paul was traded to the Bulls, he would reunite with his former head coach Billy Donovan who thrived utilizing the veteran point guard with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This trade would realistically make sense for both sides so general managers James Jones and Marc Eversley should at the very least pick up the phone and talk about this trade.
