Previewing Final Week of Phoenix Suns' Regular Season

Heading into the final week of the regular season, what is at stake for the Phoenix Suns and their opponents?

The end of the regular season is almost here: The Phoenix Suns are heading into the final week of the regular season. With just four games remaining what should we expect?

The Suns open their week on Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio is currently in the tanking race for the number one overall pick as they currently have a record of 20-58 which is the third worst in the NBA.

For years the Spurs were known for their defense but this year statistically the worst defensive team gave up 119.6 points. They also have the second worst offensive rated team scoring 109.3 points per game. With the way the Suns have been playing as of late they should not have a problem handling this Spurs squad especially with Durant and the rest of the team finally getting healthy.

Phoenix goes from playing one of the worst teams in the Western Conference to the best taking on the Denver Nuggets Thursday.

The Suns just recently defeated the Nuggets last Friday in which Durant dropped 30 points leading the team in scoring. However, Denver was without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.

Jokic has missed the Nuggets past three games with tightness in his right calf and could be held out for the remainder of the season. Even potentially without Jokic, Phoenix still has to worry about Murray who is averaging 20.3 points and a potent Nuggets scoring unit that ranks fourth in offensive rating.

On Friday, the Suns will go up against a red hot Los Angeles Lakers team. The Lakers have won six out of their last seven games and now hold the seven seed with a record of 40-38.

Los Angeles has been led by Anthony Davis who during this seven game stretch, is averaging 30 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

With LeBron James back in the lineup fans will most likely be able to finally see Durant and James finally matchup against each other. The last time these two superstars played with one another was Christmas Day of 2018 so there will be a lot of attention glued to that specific player matchup.

The final game of the regular season comes on Sunday and it could be the most important one as they take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

It's an extremely tight battle for home court advantage in the West as Phoenix sits as the four seed with a record of 43-35 while the Clippers are right on their tail holding the five seed with a record of 41-38.

If home court advantage and seeding is at stake come Sunday, this will not only be the most important game of the week but Phoenix’s most impactful game of the entire regular season.

Also if the season ended today, the Suns and Clippers would be playing one another in the playoffs so this matchup could be a preview of what is to come in the future.
