Suns Reportedly Extend Key Player

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly bringing back Grayson Allen.

Grayson Allen will indeed be staying put in Phoenix for quite some time.

The sharpshooter reportedly agreed on a 4-year, $70 million dollar contract extension with the Phoenix Suns this morning, per The Athletic insider Shams Charania.

The former Milwaukee Bucks guard was traded to Phoenix as part of the three-team deal that sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee and Deandre Ayton to Portland in late September.

Allen, 28, entered the season with tempered expectations but has been nothing short of phenomenal for the vast majority of the season - including posting the highest true shooting % in a season by a Suns player and finishing tied for second in single season three-point hits with 205.

Allen has also been a consistent force on the defensive side of the ball, playing tough on virtually every rep despite not being the most laterally quick on the floor.

Arizona Sports' insider John Gambadoro had long reported that Allen would remain with Phoenix beyond this season once trade rumors began to percolate - and now that report is backed up.

Suns governor Mat Ishbia will now have a reported payroll of $206 million, plus another $104 million in luxury tax bills after this move, and those figures may only grow larger.

The Suns will now turn their attention to attempting to re-up trade deadline acquisition Royce O'Neale - who has been a stalwart in the rotation since the transaction with the Brooklyn Nets was made in February. This will almost certainly raise the volume of the bills as well.

Allen is set to have a player option in the contract as well, but the base of the deal will have the guard remaining in Phoenix until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season.
