Hawks Star Trae Young Comes home to Oklahoma Early in Season

Atlanta guard Trae Young will compete in Oklahoma tonight, which is where it all began for him.

Trae Young is a fan favorite in Oklahoma City, playing against the Thunder in his home state just once a year. As such, it’s a big deal for Oklahomans when this happens. In a Monday night showdown today in OKC, he will play against the Thunder for the tenth time in his career.

In high school, Young went to Norman North then decided to play at the college level in the same city. He brought his talents to the University of Oklahoma, where he took college basketball by storm then went on to be selected fifth overall. Now in his sixth season with the Atlanta Hawks, Young is a two-time All-Star and one of the best athletes to ever come from Oklahoma.

In fact, he played alongside Lindy Waters III at Norman North, who went on to play at rival Oklahoma State University before ultimately landing on the Thunder.

In nine games against the Thunder in his NBA career, Young has posted averages of 25.1 points, 9.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per contest.

It’s always a special night when Young plays at Paycom Center. One of the most dynamic scorers in the league, he always puts on a show in front of his home crowd. Tonight in an early season contest, he will look to do the same.
