Thunder Gameday: OKC Looks to Get Back on Track Against Denver Nuggets

With Oklahoma City banged up and on a two-game slide, a win over Denver Wednesday would do a lot for morale.

After losses to the league-worst Detroit Pistons and West-best Minnesota Timberwolves in their last two games, the Thunder are looking to get back on track in a bout with Denver Wednesday night.

Led by MVP candidate, and two-time winner, Nikola Jokic, it’s going to be a tall task. And Oklahoma City’s potentially lengthy injury report won’t do anything to help that.

ODDS:

The Thunder enters the day as 1.5-point favorites to the Nuggets, and the total over/under is 229.5 points.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

The Thunder defense has long doubled the opposition’s best player, and Nikola Jokic has already seen his fair share of that this season.

Recently, though, OKC hasn’t had the defensive juice to keep it’s rotations and help defense sharp, and it’s led to an influx of points given up, usually late in the game.

In order to beat Jokic and the Nuggets tonight, the Thunder are going to have to stay crisp on the defensive end, which will be tough following a grueling January schedule.

FINAL WORD:

Beating the Nuggets on Wednesday is going to be a tall order for Oklahoma City. But doing so would mean owning the outright two-seed, and would have even bigger eventually implications with a 3-1 season series record.

With a loss, OKC will suffer their first 3-game slide of the season, move back further in the standings and finish with a 2-2 tiebreaker.

Suffice to say, tonight is a big one.
