Thunder Gameday: Chet Holmgren, Victor Wembanyama Face Off Again

Oklahoma City will look to stay in the win column against San Antonio after a narrow win versus Portland Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Thunder ground out an ugly home win versus the Portland Trail Blazers, with the game eventually culminating in a Jalen Williams game-winning shot.

Despite coming off two days rest, it appeared as though the team was still coming down from their long road trip, which again starts back up tonight.

In order to take down San Antonio and the white-hot Victor Wembanayama, though, they'll have to be sharper.

ODDS:

The Thunder enters the day as 8.5-point favorites over the Spurs, and the total over/under is 238.5 points.

KEYS TO THE GAME:

When Oklahoma City and San Antonio last met, the former put a 36-point beatdown on the latter.

The matchup was lauded as the legendary first meeting between the two best rookies this season: Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama. While it didn't pan out that way, with both frosh centers putting up middling games by their standards, both are well in rhythm now.

Whoever gets the better of the post matchup is likely going to give their team a boost, but it's no secret this season OKC has simply been the more talented team.

At the end of the day, the Thunder sticking to their game-plan and playing within its means may very well be all they need to leave San Antonio with a win.

FINAL WORD:

While the Thunder should walk away with a win Wednesday, Tuesday’s matchup against Portland proves anything goes in the NBA. And OKC will need to be on their A-game to get it done.

Following the Spurs, Oklahoma City faces another tough test in white-hot New Orleans on Friday.
