The Oklahoma City Thunder finished its five games of preseason basketball, and the next game up is the regular season opener against the Chicago Bulls. They finished preseason play in Tulsa, where they took on the Detroit Pistons in a close loss.

"Great coming up here. Always feel welcomed. Great enthusiasm. There was a nice little buzz," Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said of Tulsa.

Overall, the Thunder's preseason was a success. Records don't matter in preseason, especially given the fact that starters don't play typical minutes, and second and third strings are the ones closing games.

In limited action throughout the preseason, Chet Holmgren looked the part, as well as the rest of the starting lineup. When fully healthy, the starting lineup is going to cause plenty of problems for opposing teams. Their play alone makes the preseason a success.

“I thought it was good," Daigneault said of preseason. "Now we've got five days. We have some critical practices coming up. We need to be better by the first game than we are right now.”

This young team is hungry to continually improve, and each game serves as a teaching lesson for them. With five games under their belt (though the starters only played four), the Thunder should be ready to go as they take on the Bulls on the road to open their season.

“I think we’re a better team today than we were two weeks ago starting preseason," Josh Giddey said after the preseason loss.

This is what preseason is for, though. Putting the squad and all the talents together, getting a feel for rotations and getting in game shape. Now it's time for the real deal.

With the preseason hype coming around the Thunder after the core players impressed, the Thunder should be ready to execute when the real games come around.
