Oklahoma City Thunder Have 19th-Best Odds to Win Title in 2023-24, per BetMGM

Popular online sportsbook, BetMGM, lists the Oklahoma City Thunder as having 19th-best odds to win a championship next season.

After blowing last season’s expectations out of the water, the Oklahoma City Thunder had a strong opportunity to play in the 2022-23 NBA Playoffs. Unfortunately, as fate would have it, they would lose to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 95-120, in the Play-In Tournament.

Since then, the Thunder have added more talent to a young, budding core in the form of Cason Wallace and Keyontae Johnson via the 2023 NBA Draft.

The franchise is also expecting the healthy return and debut of Chet Holmgren, last year’s second overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. And fourth-year forward Aleksej Pokusevski looks like he could also be ready for the start of training camp after suffering a fractured arm.

Yet, the popular online sportsbook, BetMGM, lists Oklahoma City as having just the 19th best odds (+10,000) to win the Larry O’Brien next season — a figure that seems a little too low considering the Thunder rosters Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who notched All-NBA First Team honors last season, and the emerging talents of Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams.

For comparison, the Thunder's odds to win the title last season were sitting at +50,000: the same odds that are currently being given to the Washington Wizards, who seem to be launching their own rebuilding process.

Right behind the Thunder sit the Brooklyn Nets (+12,500), Chicago Bulls (+12,500), and the San Antonio Spurs (+15,000). The Toronto Raptors (+8000), Atlanta Hawks (+8000), and the New York Knicks (+5000) sit just ahead.

The odds-on favorites to win it all in 2023-24 are the reigning champions: the Denver Nuggets, and the new-look Boston Celtics who made waves recently after parting ways with Marcus Smart in a three-team deal that would net them Kristaps Porzingis. Odds for both teams currently sit at +450.
