With Two Games Left, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads NBA in 30-Point Games

In this story:
The Thunder fell short on the road against the Golden State Warriors, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander turned in another impressive performance.
The All-Star guard poured in 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting and even knocked down two threes. It was just another day at the office of Oklahoma City's cornerstone, who is averaging 31.5 points per game on the season.
With another massive scoring night added to the tally, Gilgeous-Alexander now leads the NBA in 30-point performances this season with 45. Right behind SGA is Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic at 44. With just two games remaining until the postseason begins, Gilgeous-Alexander has a chance to come out on top — or at least tie for first.
The Kentucky product has leveled up since the All Star break too — something that didn't seem possible. Battling through injuries, Gilgeous-Alexander has shouldered a massive load of the Thunder's offense, scoring 27 or more in every single game since the break. He's fourth in the NBA in points per game, and becoming one of the league's premier scorers.
Gilgeous-Alexander will become the third player in franchise history to average 30 points per game throughout the season, joining Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. There's still work to be done and big time moments ahead for the newest Thunder star, though, as Oklahoma City has a good chance to secure a play-in spot down the stretch.
With Chet Holmgren set to return this summer and Gilgeous-Alexander having another full, healthy offseason of improvement, the Thunder's ceiling is undeniably high. He's added another dimension to his game before the start of every new season, which adds that much more intrigue to the upcoming break.
