Andrew Wiggins Gets Honest on Getting Benched By Warriors

Andrew Wiggins was surprised by the move.

The Golden State Warriors are 2-1 since benching Andrew Wiggins out of the starting lineup. It's a move that's so far been controversial and successful, but it's one that definitely surprised Wiggins.

After the Warriors defeated the Trail Blazers on Sunday night, Wiggins gave his candid thoughts about coming off the bench.

"It was definitely surprising," Wiggins said. "Anything can happen in this league. I'm blessed to be here. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to play in this league, so I'm blessed to be here. If I want to get out of this doghouse, I gotta just keep fighting my way out."

This season was the very first time Andrew Wiggins came off the bench in his career. While he's being a good soldier, it's very clear that he can't wait to get back into the starting lineup.

“It’s different, different for sure,” Wiggins said. “It’s another thing I have to deal with. Whatever happens happens. Of course, I want to get back to my normal spot. But it could take time, who knows? I can’t really dwell on something that’s a decision made by somebody [else]. I just have to keep playing, keep staying aggressive, stay in the gym and just try to do the right things."

Make no mistake, Andrew Wiggins has the right mindset for his current predicament. All he can do now is play winning basketball and earn his spot back into the starting lineup.
