Boston Celtics Make Franchise History vs. Golden State Warriors

The Celtics absolutely dominated the Warriors

A highly anticipated 2022 NBA Finals rematch quickly became a blowout on Sunday afternoon, with the Boston Celtics outscoring the Golden State Warriors by 44 points in the first half. This 44-point lead at halftime was a franchise record for the Celtics, per Malika Andrews of ESPN.

The Warriors entered this game on a roll, having won three-straight games and eight of their last 10, but this one is over. Golden State will have to chalk this up as one just of those games, and keep pushing forward without allowing this to throw them off track.

This game is the end of road trip for the Warriors, and while that certainly doesn't explain a 44-point halftime deficit, this was always going to be a tough one for Golden State to get. With two games off before their next game, the Warriors will travel home and take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Every game is crucial for the Warriors as they attempt to climb out of the play-in picture, which means they will need to flush this one against Boston and refocus for their next game.

For Golden State, this loss is a reminder that progress is not linear. While this is an undeniable step back from where they've been, it doesn't have to be something that derails their recent stretch of good play.
