Details on Why Pascal Siakam Warriors Trade Failed

The Warriors were interested in Pascal Siakam.

If there's one thing that the NBA rumor mill has been perpetuating, it's that the Golden State Warriors were interested in Pascal Siakam. Unfortunately for Golden State, it seems like those feelings may not have been mutual.

According to Sam Amick from The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors were interested in Pascal Siakam, but he wasn't as excited about signing for anything past this NBA season with them.

This season is the final year of Pascal Siakam's 4 year, $136,905,216 contract. For any team, it would have been a major risk to trade for Siakam without knowing that he'll re-sign. In all likelihood, there was some kind of agreement for Siakam to re-sign with the Indiana Pacers for him to get traded there.

Pascal Siakam would have been a perfect fit for a struggling Golden State Warriors team that needs another All-Star caliber player to join Steph Curry. It's tough to say what would be the best replacement for him before the NBA trade deadline. The Warriors seem to need more than just some great role players, they need an actual All-Star to join Steph Curry. The team already has some great role players like Brandin Podziekmski and other younger talent, but their higher-caliber players like Klay Thompson just aren't at the level they used to be.

The Golden State Warriors aren't a team that needs to blow it up, but they still definitely need some help.
