Draymond Green’s Honest Statement on Failed Strategy vs. Celtics

Draymond Green opened up about the Warriors' horrific defense.

The Golden State Warriors dared Jaylen Brown to shoot threes on Sunday, and it blew up in their face bigger than any defensive strategy they've ever implemented before.

The Warriors ultimately lost by 52 points, with Brown putting up 38 points on 5/10 shooting from deep. While the defensive strategy was obviously controversial and didn't work, Draymond Green stands by it.

On the newest episode of the Draymond Green Show, he opened up about the failed defensive strategy on Jaylen Brown.

"We didn't implement that defensive game plan because we thought Jaylen Brown can't make shots," Green explained. "You implement that defensive game plan because you feel like he's going to take it upon himself to shoot more and more and more and more and take their offense out of rhythm. Take their offense out of rhythm, makes it a lot easier to beat them. Yes, you usually employ that game plan with guys who aren't as good as shooters as Jaylen Brown, but in saying that, like I said, Jaylen Brown's a 34% three-point shooter going into the game. So you're not overly worried that Jaylen Brown is going to start hitting threes and start hitting threes and he did."

Oftentimes, the regular season is about experimentation and finding out what works and doesn't work. If Sunday night proved anything for the Warriors, it's that this experiment was a failed one.
