Jordan Poole Gets Honest About Difference Between Warriors and Wizards

Former Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole has a new opportunity with the Wizards

A lot changed for Jordan Poole when he was traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Washington Wizards. While going from a championship contender in the Western Conference to a fringe play-in team in the Eastern Conference was a big change, there was also a stylistic change for Poole now that he had his own team.

"It’s a bit different, too, like, once your contract is signed and once you got a ring. Essentially everything that needed to be done in Golden State got done,” Poole said, via Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. "I got a ring. Made sure my family is straight. A good situation to come in [to Washington] and just kind of have my own team, play my own type of basketball."

An NBA champion on a large contract, Poole accomplished a lot with the Warriors, which has allowed him to get honest about how different his situation is now from even a couple years ago. No longer under the pressure of playing for a new contract, or even the pressure of playing a specific role for a contender, Poole has the freedom to explore his basketball ability with his own team in Washington.

While this might not result in a lot of wins this season for Poole and the Wizards, it's a distinct change from his time in Golden State, and one that he is embracing.
