Steph Curry Makes History in Game 2 vs. Lakers

Steph made history as the Golden State Warriors defeated to the Lakers in Game 2

When talking about Steph Curry's greatness, people primarily bring up his shooting and scoring ability. While this is warranted, Curry's playmaking often flies under the radar.

With the way Golden State runs their offense, Curry spends much more time off the ball than most star point guards do. Because of this, his assist numbers don't often reflect the level of playmaker that he is. An elite passer, Curry can make plays both for himself and others. This is especially important in a playoff setting when opposing defenses key in on star players even more.

With the Warriors putting Curry on the ball much more in Game 2 vs. the Lakers than they did in the series opener, he was able to make plays for his teammates out of doubles. Finishing with 12 assists, Curry overtook Dwyane Wade for sole possession of 24th all-time in playoff assists with 882 and counting.

While this achievement is nowhere near the top of Curry's list of playoff accolades, it is an impressive accomplishment, and it helps illuminate his passing ability that often gets overlooked. Already 13th all-time in playoff scoring, Curry has an opportunity to climb up several statistical ranks this postseason. His run last year was filled with record breaking performances as well, and he has showed no signs of slowing down this year.
