Steve Kerr Explains Heat’s Major Adjustment vs. Nuggets

Steve Kerr gave an analysis on Game 2 between the Nuggets and Heat

No one expected the Miami Heat to go into Denver and steal home court in Game 2, but somehow they found a way to do it. Many have tried analyzing how exactly it happened, including Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

In the newest episode of The Draymond Green Show, coach Steve Kerr sat down with Draymond Green to talk about Game 2 between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat.

"You mentioned them starting Love, that allowed Jimmy Butler guard Murray," Steve Kerr said. "To me, I haven't talked to Spo or anything like that, I can see them in their coaches meeting saying Murray is the head of the snake, not Jokic."

In the eyes of Steve Kerr, it looks like the Miami Heat decided to focus on Jamal Murray over Nikola Jokic. By treating Murray as the head of the snake, it limited the entire team's options.

"When you play a team you sort of realize, wait a second, that guy is going to dominate no matter what we do, so this is the head of the snake," Kerr said. "I think they just decided Murray is the guy we've got to stop. So, you start Love and put Jimmy Butler on Murray. Then you saw, they were blitzing Murray and trying everything to take him out of the game."

In all honesty, the Miami Heat didn't even do that great of a job in stopping Jamal Murray. He ended up with 18 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds, on 47/38/100 shooting, with only 1 turnover. Sometimes, teams just get hot, and that's exactly what happened for the Miami Heat in the fourth quarter. Their hot shooting is ultimately what got them the win.
