Warriors Make Major Lineup Change vs. Spurs

The Golden State Warriors are moving Chris Paul back to the bench

The Golden State Warriors are taking on the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, and head coach Steve Kerr has decided to make a big lineup change. Having started Chris Paul the last five games, including next to Steph Curry the last three games, Kerr is moving Paul to the bench for Moses Moody vs. San Antonio.

The Warriors are looking to turn things around, and perhaps Moody providing an early spark can help them do that. Paul will still have a big role, and will likely share several minutes on the court with Curry, but for now coach Kerr wants to split the pairing up to start the game.

This move not only allows the Warriors to do different things offensively with both of their units, but it also helps them get much bigger in their starting lineup. The Spurs start a very big lineup, so swapping the 6'0" Paul for the 6'6" Moody makes sense for this matchup in particular.

Steve Kerr has shown a willingness to change his starting lineup quite a bit this season, so there is no guarantee he sticks with this lineup, even if it plays well. That said, it's good to see the Warriors go away from something that was not working great, especially in a matchup that projected to give their previous starting five a lot of problems.
