Warriors Rookie Sends Message to His Critics

Brandin Podziemski has been spectacular.

One of the brightest spots of the Warriors' season has been the play of rookie Brandin Podziemski. Drafted 19th in the 2023 NBA Draft, no one expected Podziemski to be this good - and he knows that.

Brandin Podziemski went on X (Twitter) today to reflect on his young NBA career and send a message to the critics who expected very little of him.

"2 years ago at this time I had 17 DNP and only played garbage time, 1 year ago at this time I wasn’t on any draft boards, 5 months ago all I heard was that I was bust. Started the year out of the rotation and now I’m starting for the best franchise in the NBA! #ificandoityoucan2"

Podziemski has been so good for the Warriors that he couldn't be denied any longer, and was given Andrew Wiggins' starting job. In the month of December, Podziemski has been averaging 11.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals on 47% from the field and 36% from three. He's been a perfect running mate for Steph Curry in the sense that he can play defense, shoot the ball, and rebound better than many other guards of his size. His play is very reminiscent of a young Patrick Beverley, and every team would love to have him.

With all the praise that Podziemski is receiving now, just remember it wasn't always like that. He's had to earn every single amount of love he's receiving right now, and that's what makes the journey even sweeter for the young 20-year-old.
