Warriors Starter Suffers Injury vs Atlanta Hawks

Andrew Wiggins didn't return in the second half.

Just when it seemed like the Warriors were starting to find a groove, the injury bug hit them yet again. Andrew Wiggins did not return in the second half against the Atlanta Hawks after a collision with Clint Capela. Brandin Podziemski started in his place.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic revealed that Wiggins' injury is a left ankle injury, with his return being up in the air. He was limping after the collision with Capela, so hopefully, it's nothing major.

While Wiggins still hasn't quite emerged like he once was for the Warriors, he was fantastic for the Warriors against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers. In his last 10 games, Andrew Wiggins was averaging 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, on 49/35/80 shooting. The numbers are better than his season average, but they're still a massive drop compared to both his career numbers and what he's previously done for the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors are no stranger to injuries, and they'll need to adopt a next-man-up strategy in order to overcome Wiggins' injury. Look for Brandin Podziemski to get extended minutes with the team, as well as Jonathan Kuminga. Going into tonight, Wiggins' name was the center of trade rumors and it'll likely continue as the team moves on through his injury. Hopefully, Andrew Wiggins' ankle injury won't cost him too much time.
