Warriors vs. Lakers Predictions, Lineups & Odds for NBA Playoffs Game 3

USATSI_20156786

Just like that, we are even again. Following a hard-fought Game 1 in which the Lakers removed Golden State’s home-court advantage with a five-point victory, the Warriors responded in resounding fashion with a 27-point victory. From the start of the game, the Warriors came out firing and the Lakers were simply not able to keep up or find their way back into the game.

That means we are truly set up for an exciting Game 3 on Saturday with the series heading to Los Angeles. There is a lot to think about and consider heading into Saturday’s game. This will prove to be a critical point in the series as things can easily go in either direction, so what can we expect?

With that said, here are our Warriors vs. Lakers predictions, with odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Results From Games 1 & 2 of Warriors vs. Lakers

At the end of the day, it ultimately comes down to shooting. In Game 1, Anthony Davis went nuts for the Lakers as his 30 points and 23 rebounds led Los Angeles to victory. That, along with 19 points each from D’Angelo Russell and Dennis Schroder, helped to make up for a rough shooting night from LeBron James. On the other side of the court, both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson struggled with their shots.

On Thursday, in Game 2, the Warriors got off to a strong start and only needed 20 points and 29 minutes out of Curry. Thompson did pace Golden State with 30 points as part of a balanced effort that saw six Warriors reach double figures in a blowout victory to even up the series. Davis struggled for the Lakers with just 11 points in 32 minutes, while James certainly was efficient (10 of 18 shooting), but it wasn’t enough.

Projected Lineups for Warriors vs. Lakers on 5/6

Entering Game 3, the expectation is that each team will keep things status quo concerning their starting lineups as they have gotten them this far. With that said, it will be a team effort with multiple players having roles.

The biggest change to this point was the movement of JaMychal Green into the starting lineup for Golden State, even if he played just 12 minutes.

Golden State Warriors:

  • Draymond Green
  • JaMychal Green
  • Klay Thompson
  • Stephen Curry
  • Andrew Wiggins

Los Angeles Lakers:

  • Anthony Davis
  • LeBron James
  • Jarred Vanderbilt
  • Austin Reaves
  • D’Angelo Russell

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions for Game 3

The big thing for Los Angeles will be the ability to align their stars. After Rui Hachimura scored 21 points in Game 2, the Lakers have shown they can receive secondary scoring, but only having two players score more than 11 points is not going to cut it.

Golden State has gotten to this point without crazy contributions from Steph Curry, but Thursday proved that they might not necessarily need that with balanced scoring. At this point, we are just waiting for Curry to go off, but seeing Klay Thompson score 30 points certainly was a good sign for the Warriors.

Warriors vs. Lakers Best Bets & Picks Ahead of Game 3 on Saturday Featuring Golden State +3

Let us be honest, it is a superstar league. While the Lakers have received some scoring from their supporting cast, their fate will ultimately come down to the production of Davis and James. We are not in the position to question anything when it comes to James, but he has yet to break free against Golden State to this point, and we have seen two uneven performances from Davis.

The thought process here is that James is potentially running out of steam, and the decision by Golden State to start JaMychal Green in Game 2 proved to be successful, as the Warriors were able to space out the floor and cruise to victory. We know that Curry can take over the game, and in this situation, Golden State deserves respect.

With that said, our best bet is on the Warriors +3 (-110 at DraftKings).
