John Lynch Provides Encouraging Injury Updates on George Kittle, Charvarius Ward

49ers general manager John Lynch provides encouraging updates on the injuries of George Kittle and Charvarius Ward from their surgeries.

On Feb. 22, Charvarius Ward took to Instagram to reveal he underwent successful core surgery.

The San Francisco 49ers never publicly confirmed it or acknowledged prior or after until today. General manager John Lynch was asked at the annual NFL owner's meeting about the surgery that Ward underwent and he gave an encouraging update on him as well as revealing that George Kittle is in the same boat.

"He's already moving, he's doing great," said Lynch on Ward's recovery. "He's been around and doing well with that. Kittle's on the same plan. Kittle had a core muscle procedure as well and will be a training camp guy. I've had that surgery myself and it's a pretty high success rate of healing and it feels a lot better once you get it done because it hurts constantly having that core tugging at you. So, those guys both got that fixed."

Lynch went on to say that both players should be ready to go by the time the 49ers kick off training camp. So, confirmation is made on Ward's surgery and recovery as well as the new information on Kittle. You have to wonder if that injury Kittle sustained occurred in the Super Bowl when he briefly exited the game late.

It was never clear as to when he injured his core. The same for Ward who never missed time in a game nor was listed on the injury report for practices in the playoffs. Either way, both players have proven how tough and resilient they are to play through those injuries.

Missing OTAs appears to be a guarantee, but so long as they are good for training camp, then it is all a moot point.
