The Los Angeles Rams weren't the only ones in the NFC west to make a transaction. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero has reported that the San Francisco 49ers have signed wide receiver Deontay Burnett to their practice squad.

Burnett was most recently with the New York Jets and spent some time with the Tennessee Titans. His career started out as an undrafted free agent, which he ended up signing with the Titans only to be later cut prior to the start of the 2018 regular season.

From there, he would take his talents to New York where he spent time on their practice squad. Burrnet would eventually be promoted to the active roster to be reunited with his USC college quarterback Sam Darnold.

There isn't much to boast about his signing other than a project. It's not like bringing him in will hurt the 49ers, especially since their current wide receivers have been underwhelming through five games.

His signing is most likely a cause of that and the fact that Deebo Samuel is dealing with a groin injury. Deontay Burnett could be activated this Sunday against the Washington Redskins, but that would more so be as an emergency.

You never know, he could be a diamond hidden in the rough with the way Kyle Shanahan schemes his guys open.
