Trent Brown Explains Why Cincinnati Bengals Were Perfect Fit For Him in Free Agency

"It Was a No-Brainer."

CINCINNATI — The Bengals signed veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $4.7 million last week. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is expected to start at right tackle.

Brown called the decision to sign with Cincinnati a "no-brainer" in a sitdown with Bengals.com.

"At this point in my career, I was looking at a fit, a place with a family tradition, winning tradition, and the pieces in place to go win it all," Brown said. "It was a no-brainer to come here to Cincinnati and be able to block for a good quarterback. And he had some pieces around him to throw the ball to as well."

Brown will be asked to block some of the best pass rushers in the game, which is always a tall task, especially in a pass-first offense.

"I feel like I'm up for the challenge," he said. "I think there's a lot of great players in this division, especially across from the position that I play, and I think it'll be a great challenge for me. Like I told the coaches, I'm not a ra-ra guy. I try to lead with my play, and by example, I will pull a young guy aside and try to give him some game or some pointers about their game or just life in general. I'm excited to block for a great quarterback."
