5 Best-Fit 2020 Draft Targets for the Broncos Revealed

Here are the five draft prospects who make the most sense for Denver at this stage in the season.

With the win against the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos moved down in the draft order. Of course, with there being still seven games left to play, the Broncos can still move up and down the draft board.

The order is far from set, but that being said, what we do know about the Broncos is that they're a team that is lacking talent at multiple positions, and that has to change going forward.

One way to add talent is through the draft, and this year there is a lot of talent to be had. The quarterback class is looking strong, as are the receivers and cornerbacks. Even if Denver is picking at No. 9 overall, they'll have a chance to walk away with a blue-chip prospect.

When looking at the top-five options for the Broncos right now, there are so many ways that they could go and that is because of their dearth of talent and with how the strength of the 2020 class is shaping up. Free agency will help shore up some holes for Denver and provide some answers, but this team needs a lot of help.

Quarterbacks Tu’a Tagovailoa out of Alabama or Joe Burrow out of LSU could be options, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they are the top-two picks in the draft and it seems unlikely for the Broncos to pick top-three in 2020, let alone top two.

The top prospect is Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young, and while the QB class will push him down some, it is doubtful it will be enough to fall into the Broncos' lap. However, Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons, or LSU safety Grant Delpit, could be there for the Broncos.

Simmons makes sense, as it would give Denver an athlete at linebacker, but Delpit not so much, unless the team doesn’t re-sign Justin Simmons.

There are many other players like Alabama receivers Jerry Jeudy or Henry Ruggs III who would represent a dynamic weapon and speed, or even Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb. Denver could use another receiving weapon to pair with Courtland Sutton since DaeSean Hamilton hasn’t really stepped up.

This is just a start, but the Broncos are in a good position in a way. With how many holes they have, they aren’t pigeon-holed into hoping one or two players are there. Denver can really go so many different ways so they can really let the board fall to them and just take the best player available.

That is a good position to be in, despite the fact it means the team is lacking talent. When you are pigeon-holed into one position or hoping for one or two players, that is when big drafting mistakes are made.

Still, at this stage in the pre-draft process, the college football season has shaken loose five prospects that would make the most sense for the Broncos to target early in round one. I break down each name in the video above and why they should be high on Denver's draft board.
