The Denver Broncos will likely be selective in free agency in 2024, after having spent a lot in 2023. The Broncos' current cap issues mean that the team must get that situation in order first, which means it's likely they sit out the first wave of free agency.

But it's still a good idea for Broncos fans to get familiar with the pending unrestricted free agents at each position. We're going to examine the most notable free agents over the coming weeks.

With each installment, we'll look at who would be the top free agents at each position, and then look at the best options after that. We'll wrap up with other notable names, then consider who the Broncos are most likely in a position to pursue.

In this installment, we'll look at offensive tackles, a position at which the Broncos spent considerable money last offseason and might be looking for help if a rumored trade of Garett Bolles takes place.

Top three options: Trent Brown, Michael Onwenu, Tyron Smith

Brown and Onwenu played a lot of snaps for the New England Patriots this season, while Smith has been a long-time member of the Dallas Cowboys. They will be the most notable names who could hit the open market.

The Patriots might re-sign Onwenu but are more likely to let Brown walk, while it remains to be seen if the Cowboys keep Smith (who turns 34 this year).

The Broncos likely aren't going to pursue any of these players, even if Bolles is traded. Brown and Smith are older, and the Broncos might want a younger player at left tackle if they trade Bolles. As for Onwenu, he will likely get paid a considerable sum, and the Broncos aren't in a position to do that.

Next in line: Mehki Becton, Jermaine Eluemunor, Jonah Williams.

Becton could be an intriguing player given his talent, but his injury history means he's best suited for a one-year "prove it" deal. He's also played most of his snaps at right tackle.

Eluemunor is another player who has played on the right side for most of his career. He's also 30 years old, so he's not an option if you want a young player.

As for Williams, he's never developed into a quality player. The best you can say about him is that he can play multiple positions on the line, but that doesn't make him a player to pursue.
